Kyoto

in midsummer
toe socks adorn damp, tired feet
temple bound

-Justin von der Recke

First full day in town spent wandering the vibrant market streets and taking in a temple on a very wet afternoon. The view over Kyoto from the top was well worth the uphill slog. Some light entertainment in the evening included visiting one of the many arcades, where all the kool kids hang out, watching them waste their Yen on old-skool classics and modern day musical codswallop.

Next day and we hit the bikes (Always the best way to take in a new city, we have found), and cross town in no particular direction until we find a temple. We find a beaut, with a very well kept garden. And so it continues until we have come across four in that day and were fully saturated in the whole scene. Conveyor belt Sushi to finish off the day.

Look at them smoulder..

I don't really know what this friendly chap was doing but he was supposed to be directing traffic on the road. He loved the camera on him.

The choice is yours - they all sound intreaging, especially 'Soup'.

Today; more of the same. Nijojo temple and the Imperial Palace from the outside.

The Geisha area, where we spotted a few of them scurrying around yesterday but it was too wet to see any today.

Ahhhhhh, Kyoto....

To Hiroshima>
