Osaka! Japan

Finally made it, the furthest country East we will travel too. And possibly one of the safest, most pleasant countries of our entire journey. We took Nozomi, the fastest bullet train, from Osaka to Kyoto this afternoon, where I am now wasting precious Japanese time on the fastest internet connection I have ever used. Time for an Asahi and some Yakitori..

I suppose we could continue this blog by getting onto the subject that Japanese culture is bizarre... to say the least. We went to a local Yakitore restaurant this evening which was delicious and afterwards wandered into a "Pachinko" club, where they bet on machines using led ball bearings for crappy prizes (just like in the flim 'Lost in Translastion'). We just had a wander, but there were some serious addicts in there, with baskets full of ball bearings. What a sight!

Justin later sampled the excellent value (100Yen/50p Coffee in McDonalds we had heard about) - it really is good. We also found Muji products in a local convenience store (which some people might be excited by - only a limited range though(all we wanted was an Asahi but we got Muji which I cannot resitst)), and Keith might enjoy the Boss Coffee.. Suntory of course - for relaxing times. As a three we have made a pact to visit every Laswon store we see, even from a long distance. We dont really know why, but it is a good store.

More bizarre antics to come...
